Holiday Performance at the Campus Theatre

Saturday December 17, 2011-

Our Thursday 7:00-7:45pm Beginner Ballet class (5 students) performed a Ballet/Rockette style number to “Santa Claus is Coming to Town.”  They opened for the movie showing of “Miracle on 34th Street” at the historic one-screen movie theatre, Campus Theatre, in downtown Lewisburg.

We had such a good time preparing and performing at this holiday event.  Miss Christine handmade the teardrop Rockette hats.  And the class was happy to be able to practice in the studio moments before walking across the street and performing on stage for an audience.  It was an exciting opportunity for everyone to perform in the beautiful, recently renovated auditorium.  Thanks Campus Theatre!

You can watch the 2nd half of their dance routine, the Rockette section, by clicking here or by searching for our downtown dance youtube channel.

Lewisburg’s Victorian Holiday Parade: Alice in Wonderland

Saturday December 3, 2011-

This year we participated in the storybook section of Lewisburg’s Annual Victorian Holiday Parade as “Alice in Wonderland.”  We performed a practiced dance to music clips from the movies along the parade route.  Alice chased the White Rabbit, the Cards danced to painting the roses red, and other Wonderland characters danced to “A Very Happy Unbirthday.”  The whole group danced to the Disney and Tim Burton theme songs.

Characters pictured above included: Alice (Sydney), White Rabbit (Madalyn), Tweedledee/dum (Lexi and Maddie), Cheshire Cat (Angela), Mad Hatter (Sonja), March Hare & Dormouse (Emma & Liv), Cards (Mckenzie, Brianna, Aurora Kay, Miss Christine), Queen of Hearts (Rebecca), Flowers (Whitney, Tia, Jordan).  Thanks Joyful Hearts Costume Cottage for providing these great costumes.

Alice shirt with design on the front

Downtown Dance is pleased to offer you an opportunity to buy a little keepsake from the Alice in Wonderland-themed Victorian Christmas Parade. (Although, you do not have to be in the parade to get your hands on one).

Design featured on the back of each shirt

We will be selling children’s and adult shirts online featuring designs of each character. Whether your child is going to be Alice or a flower, we have designs for each character that will be in the parade.

Each shirt will feature a “logo” representing your child’s character on the front of the shirt, and the back of the shirts will feature a beautiful, rustic Lewis Carroll illustration of Alice in Wonderland.
