Ticket to Broadway Regional Dance Competition

March 9, 2013We returned to Ticket to Broadway for our 2nd year, such a nice competition.  It was held at Penn State York’s performing arts center. We practically had our own dressing room backstage, what a treat!

Our entries were:
Tap Soloist Age 9-10 (junior division)
Tap Soloist Age 7-8  (petite division)
Jazz Duo Age 7-8
Jazz Small Group Age 7-8
Tap Small Group Age 5-6

All of our entries were awarded a Gold placement.  Our petite soloist got 5th overall and the duo got 2nd overall.  This was a first time on stage experience for all members of the small groups and they rose to the occasion.  Bravo!Image

Downtown Dance Photo Shoot!

Christine was asked to pose for Ryan LeBreton Photography recently, and the pictures came out amazing – take a look!  He wanted to photograph a dancer using different concepts of bright, dark, and natural lighting.  The studio looks beautiful!  Check out more photos from the shoot on the Downtown Dance Facebook Page.

Bucknell Basketball Performance

_1329659603_nOn February 2, 2013 dancers from Monday Jazz & Tuesday Hip-Hop performed a routine during halftime of the Bucknell Men’s Basketball Game.

It was a phenomenal experience.  The crowd cheered them on throughout the performance which ended in an electric applause at their final pose.  Not only did the group get to dance, but they got to meet the talented, Bucknell Bison Girls Dance Team, whom they were dressed to emulate.  Walking in the players hallway, meeting Bucky, and winning a pizza topped off this special event.

Ticket to Broadway Competition

The Ticket to Broadway Competition is coming up in March, and we are busy getting ready to perform and compete in York, PA on March 9th!  We are entering two small group numbers, a duo, and a solo in this competition. Good luck to all!

Bucknell Basketball Dance! THIS SATURDAY

THIS SATURDAY, February 2nd, Downtown Dance dancers will be performing during halftime of the Men’s Basketball Game, 7pm at Sojka Pavillion!  Their Practice last week went great and the girls are very excited to perform in front of such a big crowd.  Here they are posing on the court!

Children’s Health Fair

Recital Date Confirmed

dd truThe 3rd Annual Downtown Dance Recital will be:

Saturday, June 1, 2013 at Milton High School in Milton, PA.  The show starts at 6:30pm.  Tickets can be bought in advance at the studio in May or at the door.

Costume orders are being placed now.

Downtown Dance At Campus Theater!

On December 1st at 4:00 pm, the Campus Theater will be showing “The Grinch“, and our Itty Bitty Ballet and Tap class of 4 year olds will be performing a tap dance!

On December 8th, at 2:00 pm “A Christmas Story” will be playing and our 7-9 year old dancers who have been tapping for two to three years will also be performing a tap dance!

Since the weather is getting colder, now would be a good time to get a long sleeved leotard in colors including sky blue, hot pink, dark purple, black, red or light pink!
